When you connect using the LISTEN NOW button, this takes you to the station page in Live 365 (the people who do all the technical stuff that gets the music from me to you and also make sure it's 100% legal). You can listen for the first few times without registering with them, but at some point you will need to do it. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FREE, AS IS LISTENING TO MONDO BLU.
The default player appears in a pop-up window, so if you don't see anything, look for a message in your browser window and answer "YES" to accept pop-ups from this site (Live365). I'm told the player works with Windows, Mac and Linux, although I have only tried it with Windows.
Mondo Blu uses mp3Pro, a format compatible with mp3, but with better compression and smaller quality loss. Normal mp3 programmes can play mp3Pro, but they don't take advantage of its special features; for the real experience, we recommend the free Jet Audio player (Windows only, I'm afraid). download link.
Once this is installed, you need to tell Live365 to use it by default. So, login to your new account, click on My Account | Listen Settings and select the option MP3 Player.
Click on Save settings and you're done. The next time you start Mondo Blu, Jet Audio will open to play. If you get a message asking you if you want to open playlist files with Jet Audio, then accept it to start the stream playing. I hope this helps.
The adverts are a necessary evil - they keep Live365 in business and allow them to pay royalties to artists. Likewise, they keep Mondo Blu on the air at a fair price. However, Live365 VIP listeners get to listen ad-free and have automatic access to all the stations on Live365 (that's some 10,000), even those which have reached listener capacity. Prices start from $5.95 a month for a year's subscription, plus you get a free player, plus part of your fee comes back to Mondo Blu! So click here to get more information about becoming a VIP listener- thanks!
